FAQs

  1. Does the MISTRAL-X ventless hood have approvals?
The MISTRAL-X is approved to UL safety, CSA and NSF standards. The MISTRAL-X is certified to UL-710B standards and meets the EPA 202 Grease Extraction Test Method in accordance with NFPA 96. Additionally, the MISTRAL-X is approved for use under New York City Fire Code Section 901.4.5.

  2. What is fire suppression pre-piping?
Fire suppression piping on the unit is installed at our factory and is designed to integrate into a fire suppression system at the location. The balance of the installation must be installed by the local Ansul installer.

  3. How does the Pilot Monitoring System work?
The MISTRAL-X is designed to monitor for proper air flow. When the air flow drops below UL-710B standards, the system automatically shuts down power to the unit as well as to the attached equipment. A red indicator light on the lower front panel of the unit will illuminate, indicating that the particulate and carbon filters need to be changed. The unit will not power on again until the filters are changed and air flow returns to proper levels.

  4. How often do we have to change the filters?
As a guideline, the carbon and particulate filters should be changed every 3-6 months depending on the type and amount of food products being cooked.

  5. How loud is the unit?
Our units are 70 decibels, which is similar to an overhead hood.
