FAQs

  • How do I clean the enameled cast iron?
Allow the grill to cool before cleaning. Using a stiff wire brush (optional accessory), brush the food residue and carbon from the upper and then lower grill plates. To clean the grill, brush the debris toward yourself and into the removable drip drawer. Use a cloth dampened slightly with a soap and water mixture to clean the stainless-steel housing, upper grill covers, spring protection cover and the drip tray. Clean the grill thoroughly at the end of each day. Failure to do so may cause difficult to remove build up. In order to remove carbon build up from the grill plates, use industry standard food service grade degreasers or grease removers.
  • Do the plates have a coating?
Yes, they are cast iron plates with a protective ceramic finish to reduce sticking. Less oil lubricant is needed, reducing any smoke. Metal tools can be used.
  • Does the unit need to be seasoned before I use it?
No. Lightly spray with cooking oil as needed during use to reduce sticking.
  • How long does the unit take to preheat?
Anywhere between 8-9 minutes, depending on the voltage and desired temperature. Generally, 120v units take slightly longer than 208/240v models.
  • How to I use the selector switch?
Rotate the selector switch to the 3 o’clock position to energize both top and bottom plates. Rotate to the 6 o’clock position to activate the bottom only plate(s). Rotate to the 9 o’clock position to activate the top plate(s) only.
  • Is it ok to leave the panini grill on all day, even when there is a slow period?
Yes. Just leave the lid(s) closed when not in use. The unit will only activate when the temperature drops below the set temperature.
